DERMATOSE: Goat milk skincare products associated with allergies

The study thus reports 7 clinical cases suffering from inflammatory skin conditions who developed anaphylaxis or a serious allergic reaction, after having ingested milk or cheese products made from goat or sheep. All patients had a history of using goat’s milk skin products to treat their inflammatory skin conditions before the onset of their allergic reaction.

Marketing of skin products derived from goat’s milk is growing with the claim that these products can preserve the sensitive skin of people prone to underlying inflammatory skin conditions.

This study suggests that the use of such skincare products, made from goat’s milk, as an adjunctive treatment for inflammatory skin conditions,

could promote the development of new food allergies.
