Derksen on TV return: ‘I did not want to hurt victims of sexual violence’

Derksen explained why he stopped the program in the first place. “Not because hysterical ladies fell over me or because talk show hosts started to behave like hypocritical people. I resigned when I also got the impression that Talpa was not behind us.”

Derksen was said to have had enough of that. “All those people at those talk show tables, they are going to demand very well and politically correct that I have to apologize. I had already distanced myself from it during the broadcast.”

“So the people who are really affected by sexual violence. I may have hurt them with this and that was never my intention,” he said. Derksen realizes that he caused the riot. “I am completely responsible. I can advise all men in the Netherlands to never tell anything, because society is trying to destroy you.”

Small group makes a lot of noise

According to Derksen, the group in society that is ‘for’ him is much larger than the group that is ‘against’ him. “But that smaller group makes a lot more noise.”

At the end of April it was announced that the Wilfred Genee, René van der Gijp and Johan Derksen immediately stopped working for Today Inside. That was a few days after the fuss that arose about Derksen’s much-discussed confession, in which he said he penetrated an unconscious woman with a candle. The analyst changed the story in the next broadcast, stating that no penetration had taken place.

Return

Although there were soon rumors that the talk show would return, Derksen then suppressed those rumors: “I stopped taking it and I’ll leave it at that”, the television maker said at the time. “There may be conversations, but at least they aren’t with me.”

Derksen said on May 11 that the trio was back on television. Talpa initially called this reporting ‘premature’. A day later, the production house announced the return of the trio.

Demonstration

Prior to the delivery of Today Inside a small group of people protested in front of the program’s studio. ‘No stage for racism and sexism’, could be read on the signs and banners that people had taken with them. Also ‘put that candle in your own ass’ and ‘rape culture is no joke’ were on the signs of the group of people.
