Dresden. Derby wins are always particularly nice. That is why the second division volleyball players of VC Dresden were happy about their clear 3-0 success (25:17, 25:21, 25:23) against the LE Volleys from Leipzig on Friday evening. However, this was only half of the weekend work of the Elbe townspeople, because the trip to TGM Mainz-Gonsenheim is already on this Saturday, where the protégés of trainer Niklas Peisl want to add the next points.

The hosts started the game very focused against Leipzig. They hit hard, and the block kept buying the edge of the opposing attackers. In the second section, the VC men were already leading with 17:11 and 20:13, but then they obviously shifted down a gear and let the guests come up to 20:23. But in the end, the home side kept their nerve.

After the VCD had an 8: 3 lead, the third round was fiercely contested. But in the close final phase the block was again safe and after 74 minutes the tenth win of the season was perfect. Marc-Leon Vogt was honored as MVP.

“Of course, a 3-0 win in the derby against Leipzig is always nice. In the beginning it went like clockwork, but I would have liked to have played through more consistently from the second set onwards. The tension dropped a little ”, VC sports director Sven Dörendahl remarked somewhat critically, despite the clear victory. He also admitted: “Leipzig certainly didn’t have the best day.”
