“Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab on Lebanon’s Presidential Endeavors and Communication Efforts”

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Elias Bou Saab, indicated that “the presidential endeavors are “futile”, but communication is still in place,” pointing out that “I do not take an initiative nor promote presidential names, but as deputies we cannot complete by watching what is happening and my responsibility as Vice President The House of Representatives made it imperative for me to communicate with the rest of the representatives and try to do something.”

Bou Saab explained, in an interview with “LBCI”, that “I did not resign from the strong Lebanon bloc, and I communicate with all the blocs to build bridges and find common denominators because the solution is to communicate together,” adding, “I think that Representative Gebran Bassil was right in his current presidential position, He does not support either the candidate of confrontation or the candidate of opposition, and a strong Lebanon is committed not to provoking any party.

He continued, “There is no trust between Geagea and Bassil, and the Lebanese Forces are more suspicious of Bassil’s intentions than some deputies within the strong Lebanon bloc,” stressing that “any candidate who needs my vote to be president, I will not hesitate to do so, so how about if it is Suleiman Franjieh.”

Bou Saab confirmed, “I communicate with everyone, whether in the Gulf, the United States, Iran, or Saudi Arabia, because Lebanon is pivotal, and because I am able to communicate with everyone, I have reached the conviction that no one can help us if we do not help ourselves with the presidential issue.”

And he stressed, “The official American position is with the appointment of a new bank governor to replace the current governor, Riad Salameh.”
