REMBANG – The people of Rembang were asked to be aware of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and take precautions. This is because DHF cases in Rembang have increased, in fact, recently there were 33 cases recorded, with two children dying.
This was conveyed by Deputy Regent of Rembang Mochammad Hanies Cholil Barro’ at the Sarang sub-district level development planning meeting (Musrenbangcam), Tuesday (28/2/2023). According to him, the village government, including the village PKK Mobilization Team is expected to start promoting environmental cleanliness.
“Environmental hygiene must be a priority. At least, at the end of the rainy season until the dry season, there are lots of endemic dengue mosquitoes, this must be done carefully and anticipate it,” explained the Deputy Regent.
In addition, the deputy district chief asked the public to promote 3M plus. Namely, draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and burying/reusing used waste that has economic value (recycling). Residents are also reminded not to rely on fogging, because it only kills adult mosquitoes, not larvae.
“This fogging only kills adult mosquitoes, the larvae will not die. This is also important, use mosquito repellent or mosquito coils, use mosquito nets for children,” he said.
In addition, village heads and village PKK members were asked to inform their residents about the DHF prevention call. When their child has a fever, the deputy district chief reminded them not to panic and immediately go to the nearest health facility.
“Puskesmas, doctors or village midwives can be consulted, as well as provide first treatment earlier. The most important thing is to be vigilant again,” he concluded.
