Deputy protests against plan to request vaccination card to enter shops

Vaccination process against COVID-19. CRH File / For Illustrative Purposes

(CRHoy.com) .- The Social Christian deputy, Shirley Díaz Mejías, spoke out against the possibility, announced by President Alvarado, to implement the vaccination card against COVID-19 to enter shops and restaurants.

This Tuesday in the space of political control in the Legislative Plenary, the legislator questioned whether the measure is timely and said that vaccination should be “A free and voluntary act.”

Demanding said card to enter shops, according to Díaz, it threatens the economic recovery and the reactivation of the different sectors.

“Be very careful, citizens should not be required to demonstrate that they have already received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to enter shops and restaurants. What do they want with this in the middle of such a slow vaccination process? Will it end up breaking the economy?, Close the businesses that against all odds are still open? ”Diaz questioned.

The legislator clarified that she is in favor of vaccination, but said that the process must take place “in accordance with the rule of law.”

“It must be a free act of each Costa Rican and never something mandatory,” he added.

The legislator also said that the eventual third dose that has been discussed must also be voluntary. He concluded by saying that these are “dictatorial” ideas.

“Eye to Christ with these plays. Yes to vaccination, but not mandatory vaccination and much less as a requirement to enter shops. No more impact on the economyDiaz said.
