Deputy Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès is still in intensive care

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sophie Wilmès (MR) is still in the intensive care department of the Delta hospital in Auderghem. “Her condition is improving step by step and she is not being ventilated,” says her spokeswoman Elke Pattyn.

Last week, Wilmès herself announced that she had tested positive for covid-19. “An infection that may have occurred in the family circle, given the precautions I have taken outside of the home,” she tweeted at the time.

A few days later she fell ill and had to be admitted to hospital. She still resides there. In the intensive care unit.

“She does not need to be ventilated and her condition is improving step by step,” said her spokeswoman Elke Pattyn Monday afternoon.

It is not clear when she can go to a regular room or when she will be allowed to leave the hospital. Also about which symptoms she has is not communicated. Her condition is stable.

Wilmès is the first top politician in our country to end up in hospital with the corona virus.
