Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait orders recruitment of expatriate workers to solve labor shortage

Kuwait City: Recruiting expatriate workers to Kuwait. Local newspapers reported that the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, has instructed those concerned to take steps to recruit expatriate workers as part of solving the labor shortage in the country.

Recruitment will be done from new countries as part of population balancing measures. The action is part of solving the shortage in the country’s labor market. Indications are that recruitment from countries including India, which is leading in the presence of foreigners, will not start. Earlier, members of parliament and various government departments had recommended that recruitment quotas should be set for foreign countries to reduce the gap between natives and foreigners in the population. At present, Indians are the first among the expatriates. Egyptians are in second place, while Filipino and Bangladeshi expats are in third and fourth place.
