Deputy Press Secretary of the US President Andrew Bates sharply criticized statements made by the previous occupant of the White House, Donald Trump, at a campaign rally in New Hampshire. The state will hold its Republican primary in January.
Trump said immigrants are poisoning the blood of America. He also quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as speaking out against Biden. Bates accused him of using fascist rhetoric and praising the dictator.
“Imitating the grotesque rhetoric of fascists and white supremacists and threatening to suppress those who disagree with those in power are a dangerous attack on the dignity and rights of all Americans, on our democracy, on public safety,” a White House spokesman said.
Trump, 77, is a leading contender for the Republican nomination in the 2024 election. He is expected to be opposed by the current president. Biden’s rhetoric toward Trump is also becoming increasingly harsh.
