The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Sozopol Todor Damyanov gave the first prize to the best performing spearfishing competitor. This is Veselin Tomov from SKPR Nessebar. Valentin Lyutskanov from KPR “Chernomorets” took second place. Miroslav Ilchev from SKPR “Nessebar” came third. However, he also won the prize for the largest fish caught.
Deputy Mayor Damyanov congratulated the participants, wished them well and assured them that it is an honor and a pleasure for the Municipality of Sozopol to host such a competition.
31 competitors took part in the competition for the “Bulgaria Cup” in spearfishing. They are from 8 clubs across the country. The competition is held for the sixth time, and for the fourth time it is in the town of Chernomorets.
It is also dedicated to the memory of Dimitar Minev, who is the founder of underwater fishing in Bulgaria.
The start was given in the morning at five points from the land in the area between Cape Akin and Cape Malka Agalina, explained the chief judge Ivaylo Ivanov. After 5 hours at sea, he welcomed the participants at the port in Chernomorets.
The fish caught by each competitor was weighed and recorded. It was mostly of the cormorant species, there were platerine and lapine.
Anglers received bonus points for catching more than 10 fish of one species and for a variety of three species.
The oldest participant was Mario Hristov, and the youngest – Dimitar Mihailov.
