“Deputy Headtum of Golkar Responds to Claims of KIB Disbanding Over Different Candidate Pairs in 2024 Election”

Waketum PPP Arsul Sani called the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) will end by itself if it carries a different pair of candidates (paslon) in the 2024 Election. Responding to this, Deputy Headtum Golkar Ahmad Doli Kurnia said he had not seen an official statement regarding the attitude of fellow parties in the KIB.

“So far I have never seen an official statement, have never heard of an official statement from PPP stating that as stated earlier (KIB Disbanded),” Doli told reporters at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Sunday (14/5/2023) .

Doli said the three political parties had held a meeting after PPP declared Ganjar Pranowo as the supported presidential candidate in 2024. Doli said that at the meeting the three emphasized that KIB remained solid.

“Well, at that meeting it was stated that KIB is solid, it remains solid. So, our measurement is the one conveyed by the general chairman of the political party,” he said.

Even so, he said, each political party on the coalition axis would discuss their stance regarding the support for the presidential and cawapres candidates if there were differences.

“But when it comes to KIB, for example the presidential and cawapres KIB candidates, we will discuss them together,” he said.

As previously reported, PPP Deputy Head Arsul Sani said it would not matter if PAN and Golkar, who are members of the KIB, did not support Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate. Arsul assesses the possibility that each party in KIB will have a different promotion.

“I don’t think it’s a problem, basically, those in the government coalition agreed, agreed to respect each other even though there is a possibility that in the final, yes, the final, yes, our candidate pairs could be different,” Arsul said after attending the Musra of Jokowi’s volunteers, Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday (14/5).

Arsul said PPP with Golkar and PAN who are both in the government coalition will respect decisions related to presidential candidates. He answered the question of the possibility of KIB disbanding if there were different views.

“You don’t need to use the word disband, lah. It ends by itself, just like that,” he continued.
