The match between Atletico Madrid and Bali United U-18 at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) was in the spotlight due to acts of sexism and racism by the audience. DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor (Wagub) Ahmad Riza Patria said JIS Stadium could be used for activities other than sports, such as arts and religion.
“I don’t know the information yet, but we hope that there will be no other activities at JIS except positive activities in order to support sports, arts, cultural arts, and other efforts, including religious activities,” said Riza when met during her visit. at Unolab, North Jakarta, Saturday (16/4/2022).
Riza hopes that JIS can be used for positive things. Therefore, Riza condemned the acts of racism and sexism that occurred at the JIS Stadium during the Atlético Madrid U-18 match against Bali United U-18.
“Yes, of course we condemn the activities that are not commendable,” he said.
Atletico Madrid’s match against Bali United U18 previously held in the International Youth Championship (IYC) at JIS was in the spotlight. The reason is, during the match, it was suspected that there were acts of racism to sexism from the audience.
The Twitter account @addogerardo revealed this in an upload threadwhich received a response 524 times retweet from other Twitter users. He called the audience at JIS racist acts against Atletico Madrid players.
“Unfortunately there is racism from the mouths of stadium visitors who shouted ‘woy it*m’ Atletico Madrid U18 players at the JIS Stadium,” he wrote.
