Jakarta –
Deputy Governor of Lampung, Chusnunia Chalim regretted the video allegedly banning Christian congregations from carrying out worship activities at church viral. Chusnunia alias Nunik said that his party was still investigating the reasons for the alleged ban.
“Yes, we have seen the video, we are still finding out the cause. If the house of worship has received the approval of the residents, of course it doesn’t have to be questioned again,” he said when contacted, reported detikSumatraMonday (20/2/2023).
Regarding the actions of the person in the video who allegedly stopped the Christian worship process, Nunik admitted that he deeply regretted it. He considered that residents should mediate first.
“Of course it is very regrettable for this incident. The state guarantees the right to religion and worship of its citizens in accordance with the law, it should not be done with such actions. We live in Indonesia, which has various ethnic religions, tolerance must be prioritized,” he said.
For this incident, the Church came to the Kedaton Police to report the incident.
Previously, the viral action on social media banned Christians from worshiping in churches. The alleged persecution took place at the Kemah Daud Christian Church which is located on Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Gang Anggrek, Rajabasa, Bandar Lampung.
