Deputy Democratic Deputy Questions Alleged Flow of Funds in BTS Project Case

Jakarta

Deputy Democratic Deputy, Benny K Harman asked about information regarding the alleged flow of project funds BTS to a number of political parties. The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and Acting Menkominfo, Mahfud Md, denied ever mentioning the names of a number of political parties who were suspected of receiving the flow of funds that ensnared Jhonny G Plate.

“Is this information true, Mr. Mahfud. It is better if the information is not clear, do not disclose it to the public. But if it is true, it must be thoroughly investigated,” Benny said on his Twitter account, as seen detikcomWednesday (25/5/2023).

Benny also questioned why information regarding the flow of funds in the BTS project case was conveyed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and not to the KPK.

“I’m just asking, why report to the president, why don’t you just report the information directly to the KPK or to the Attorney General’s Office?” he said.

Mahfud then replied to Benny’s tweet. Mahfud said he never mentioned the name of a political party, and considered the questions posed by journalists about the alleged flow of funds as political gossip.

“This information is inaccurate, Pak Benny. I have never mentioned the name of a political party. I was asked by journalists who mentioned the names of several political parties receiving the flow of funds. I replied that I had heard the information, but for me it was just political gossip,” said Mahfud.

Mahfud admitted that he had reported it to Jokowi. He included a video when he was interviewed by journalists.

“I have reported to the President. Below is a video of my true statement,” he added.

Mahfud Says Political Gossip

Mahfud previously admitted that he had heard information about the alleged flow of BTS project funds to political parties. Mahfud regarded this as political gossip.

“Yes, I also got the news, with names like that. But I think it’s political gossip,” Mahfud told reporters at the Kominfo Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (23/5).

Mahfud said he had reported this to President Joko Widodo. He invited the Attorney General’s Office and the Corruption Eradication Commission to continue investigating the BTS project case.

“We only work with the law. I have also reported about it to the president, ‘Sir, I will not go into this matter. This proof will be complicated and might cause political confusion.’ concrete figures to investigate this,” he said.

Mahfud admitted that he would not interfere in political matters, alleging that BTS project funds were flowing to political parties. According to him, the investigation entered the realm of law.

“But if I myself consider it as political gossip that I will not handle administratively here institutionally managerially, because it has entered the realm of law. I got that information and I have reported it to the president I will not get into political affairs, this pure law, let the law determine that,” he said.
