Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: We are checking for the involvement of border guards in the case of the coffin truck

It is checked whether there is participation of border police officers in the case of the coffin truck to the village of Lokorsko. This was said for bTV by the Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ch. Commissioner Stanimir Stanev.

“If we compare the data from the first and second weeks of February, it can be said that the migrant pressure on our country is decreasing. Unfortunately, however, in this third week of the month, the migrant pressure again started to increase“, he said.

Ch. Commissioner Stanev explains this with the better weather and with the majority of people wanting to leave the borders of Turkey. He is adamant that the external border of the EU is protected very well with the means that Bulgaria has at its disposal.

“It is important to say that we found 2,000 less people in the DG Border Police – these employees were laid off. Officials had to be dispatched from the interior of the country to make up for the shortages. By comparing the data for travel allowances paid and overtime, it turns out that it is better to hire employees. We took these steps a long time ago,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that they are “tightening the ring” around the sewers, but they are also becoming significantly more inventive – if they used to transport them in buses, now they make hiding places and fill them with grain or wood, as the case may be with the coffin truck in the village of Lokorsko.

“There are employees who were suspended. Others left on their own before the inspection of the inspectorate on the Burgas case was completed. There are also employees, about which we have information, although insufficient. We rotate them – we send them to other border crossings and directorates,” the head also said. Commissioner Stanev.

He clarified that DG “Internal Security”, GDBOP and DANS investigating officers of “Border Police”, which deal with this type of activity, including in the “Lokorsko” case.

“However, I want to emphasize that in DG Border Police they work extremely honest, brave and responsible employees. Those who are checked by the services are a very small percentage of the total composition”, the head is emphatic. Commissioner Stanev.

The Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that check all channels and if they involve their employees, they will be shown. “We show each other the bad apples, never mind that this sometimes brings us negativity,” he also said.
