Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Zainuddin Amali said that there were many things that the U-17 national team under the coach’s care had to improve Milky Way.
Amali said this when alluding to the results of the two matches national team U-17 when defeated by Barcelona Juvenil A with a score of 0-3 and Kashima Antlers U-18 with a score of 2-3.
“There are many things that need to be fixed (from the two trial matches),” said Amali when met by the media crew on an occasion at the IDX Building, Jakarta, Monday (7/8/2023).

“Earlier, I had a discussion, I accompanied the general chairman with coach Indra Sjafri and technical consultant Frank, he has explained a number of things that need to be fixed,” said Amali.
In early August, PSSI had just completed the selection of players for the U-17 national team which was held in 12 cities, including Bandung, Palembang, Gianyar, Jakarta, Tangerang, Samarinda, Solo, Banjarmasin, Medan, Surabaya, Manado and Makassar.
From the selection of 12 cities, 42 players have passed and are scheduled to join the main squad for the U-17 national team which is currently training in Jakarta, on August 15-17.
The combined U-17 main squad and the selection results will later be narrowed down to approximately 30 names to be taken to a training camp in Germany from September to October.
“So now they’re done. We will select again, reduce (the squad) again. From the existing squad, 42 players were added from a selection of 12 cities, and this was getting narrower so that in the end, only around 30 players would be brought to Germany,” said Amali.

The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) added, from the results of discussions with Frank, the total number of U-17 players that could be narrowed down could be less in order to find really quality players.
“Even if possible, earlier the discussion was with Frank Wormuth, it is possible that it could be lowered again. So we want that those that are really of good quality are up to standard. But in the meantime we still have to select first, especially those who were obtained from 12 cities,” he added.
Amali assessed that there was no significant difference in the quality of the players selected for the U-17 national team which consisted of a combination of local and diaspora players.
“No, for U-17, even many diaspora do not pass (selection),” concluded Amali. (Source: Between)
