Depth of Martian crust and size of core calculated for first time

NASA’s InSight spacecraft has measured the depth of Mars’ crust and the size of its core, using data from Mars earthquakes since 2018.

Analyzing the earthquake data in question, scientists calculated that the crust of Mars is between 20 and 37 kilometers thick. Beneath the crust is the mantle, which extends for about 1,560 kilometers to the core of Mars, which turns out to have a radius of 1,820 kilometers.

However, experts have calculated that the crust of Mars is also about 35 kilometers thick.
