He is also an a-Depp-t artist.
Depp, 59, revealed his victory in his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard by sharing the news with the sale in an Instagram.com image of himself sitting in front of four other iconic works.
“NOW #CASTLEFINEART,” he captioned the image, linking it to the UK gallery, before his fans were told: “The wait is finally over!”
“We are delighted to announce the latest addition to Castle Fine Art is the critically acclaimed actor, musician and artist #JohnnyDepp,” the gallery said.
Less than 20 minutes later, the gallery admitted it had experienced such a rush of buyers that its website crashed from overload.
As fans complained about not being able to access the sale, the gallery then tweeted that Depp’s “debut collection Friends & Heroes” is now officially sold out.
“This world-first release proved to be our fastest-selling art collection to date, with all titles selling out within hours,” boast the art curators.
All 780 prints were quickly marked “out of stock” and sales are estimated to have reached at least $3.65 million.
In its catalog, the gallery emphasizes: “For Johnny Depp, art has always been in the 1st place. Before acting and before making music, art has always been an important expression of his creativity.
