PVV leader Geert Wilders does not want to make any distinction between illegal refugees in our country or asylum seekers who have fled war and violence. “I say to all asylum seekers who are here now: either you go back, or we will detain you. It’s locking in or out,” said Wilders in the television program WNL Op Zondag on NPO 1.
The leader of the PVV was a guest in the television program to talk about the asylum system in our country. Presenter Rick Nieman specifically asked him about solutions for the refugees who are already in our country and some of whom have already received a residence status, but are still waiting for a home.
Wilders reacted harshly and firmly: “It makes no sense to distinguish between groups of refugees. The following applies to all asylum seekers in our country: you must deport them. Do they swallow their passport? Then you pin them. Under lock and key on water and bread.” In this way, Wilders says he wants to make it “as unattractive as possible” to stay in our country and come to our country.
Supporter of reception in the region
Wilders is in favor of full reception in the region. “All people who flee from war and violence have the right to a safe place, but that is not necessary in the Netherlands. Look at the Gulf States, the Emirates, countries with the same language and culture as the country of origin. Those countries refuse to receive people. We should do the same, so I argue in favor of a ‘push back system’. Refugees enter our country here through the safe countries of Germany and Belgium. We can just push them back across the border,” concludes the PVV leader.
