A month after the death of keyboardist Andy Fletcher (60), Depeche Mode shared an Instagram post about the painful loss. In it, group members Martin Gore (60) and Dave Gahan (60) thank their fans for the love they showed for Andy. It is also reported that the sixty-year-old died of natural causes.

“We wanted to take a moment to reflect on the love you have shown over the past few weeks. It’s unbelievable to see your photos, to read your words, to see how much Andy meant to you,” reads a photo of the late keyboardist.

A few weeks ago, Andy’s family got the results of the autopsy. The family gave the group permission to share Fletcher’s cause of death with fans. “Andy had an aortic dissection at home on May 26. Although it was much, much too soon, he died of natural causes without much suffering.” An aortic dissection involves a tear in the inner wall of the carotid artery, which must be treated quickly.

Fletcher’s lovers celebrated his life in London last week with “a beautiful ceremony and gathering with a few tears, but filled with great memories of who Andy was, stories of our times together, and laughter.” Martin and Dave said goodbye to the keyboardist who had been with them from the beginning of the band, in 1980.
