In early June, a man was killed in Saint-Michel, near Cazères. A few hours later, after an exchange of gunfire, a suspect was arrested by the GIGN antenna. Since this suspect who has just been indicted for “attempted homicide” on the gendarmes denies his involvement.
A weapon that cannot be found, a suspect who is surprised and a case that becomes more complicated. Four months after the murder of Saint-Michel, near Cazères, the investigation, which initially seemed simple, takes an unexpected turn. This Tuesday, June 1, David Pommier, 42, was shot dead in front of his home. This mechanic was drinking a beer when he was hit by three bullets: one in the head, two in the neck. These shots left him no chance.

Very quickly the gendarmes followed a trail: the killer had moved on a white scooter. This clue led to an individual who lives a few kilometers away, in Montberaud. This man precisely encountered problems with the victim who had been convicted of violence against him. A few hours after the crime, the GIGN branch moved to Montberaud and stormed in the early evening, for lack of response from the man barricaded at home. During the intervention, the gendarmes were targeted through the door. The bullet hit a member of the assault column head on, saved by his bulletproof vest.
The murder weapon remains untraceable
Christophe, the 28-year-old shooter, has also just been indicted for “attempted murder of a person holding public authority” but also for violence with and without incapacity for work. After the shootings, his arrest by the members of the intervention unit, slowed down by the complicated breaking in of the door (a piece of furniture blocking the opening), was agitated. The suspect who lived near his sick father whom he was taking care of, does not deny the shot but claims that he fired without knowing that it was the gendarmes who wanted to enter his home. “He did not hear the summons,” underlines Me Morgan Dupoux, who is speaking with Me Pierre Le Bonjour. “This man reacted badly out of fear, confirms Me Guillaume Conry, his lawyer. And the course of the intervention of the gendarmes raises questions, in particular the absence of prior contact. “

And way to complicate the case, the suspect indicted for the assassination of David Pommier a few hours after his arrest denies any involvement in this crime. He did have an altercation in March 2020 but today’s suspect was the victim at the time. And since then, apart from the cartridges found in large numbers (more than 2,000!) In the attic of the house where the suspect was arrested (they would have been manufactured by the grandfather, owner of the premises), the elements are missing. The murder weapon remains untraceable despite research carried out in particular by divers from the gendarmerie.
