More than half a year after sustaining his serious knee injury, Memphis Depay made his comeback in a game. The attacker of Olympique Lyonnais did that in an exhibition game with amateur club Port-Valais (12-0).
Depay was within the lines from the start and already scored the 1-0 after three minutes from the penalty spot. Fifteen minutes later he made the 4-0 and after the break also the 8-0 and 11-0. The Orange-international was the declarer for four goals.

Depay tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee in the league game against Stade Rennes on December 15. The 26-year-old striker had previously hit nine goals in thirteen league matches.
In recent months, Depay has been working hard to recover. Initially, he focused on participating in this summer’s European Championship. However, that tournament, which is said to have been underway, was postponed to 2021 due to the corona crisis.
The French league has ended, but Lyon will still play in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue, one of the French cup competitions, at the end of this month.
Lyon plays in August in Portugal the return against Juventus in the eighth finals of the Champions League. The French won the first game at home with 1-0.
