The departure of 10 members of the National Conference of Governors (Conago) caused a clash of positions between local leaders. While some minimized the breakdown of the members of the Federalist Alliance, others disqualified them and some called them to reconsider, in order to maintain unity in the midst of the crises facing the country.
Yesterday, the governor of Chihuahua, Javier Corral, who on Monday announced the departure of the 10 leaders of Conago, assured that, without the intention of confronting or breaking up, the Federalist Alliance will continue to clearly express its position.
He warned that if this group of local leaders is not listened to by the federal government, it will resort to legal channels, “which have been little used in the relationship of the entities with the central government and which are in the Constitution to raise disputes, divergences, claims, demands, ”he said. He announced that they will seek direct dialogue with Congress and its banks to be heard in a direct atmosphere of frankness and objectivity.
This Monday, the governors Javier Corral, from Chihuahua; José Rosas Aispuro, from Durango; Enrique Alfaro, from Jalisco; Silvano Aureoles, from Michoacán; Javier García, from Tamaulipas; José Ignacio Peralta, from Colima; Miguel Ángel Riquelme, from Coahuila; Jaime Rodríguez, from Nuevo León; Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, from Guanajuato, and Martín Orozco Sandoval, from Aguascalientes, announced their departure from Conago, as they considered that it no longer fulfills its function.
In this regard, the governor of San Luis Potosí and president in turn of the National Conference of Governors, Juan Manuel Carreras, warned in turn that “being in the Conago is not mandatory for anyone, they are personal decisions, as it is a body to build agreements and those of us who are will continue working on it and always prioritizing dialogue ”.
He pointed out that in part the decision of the state executives who left Conago was due to the fact that there were no satisfactory responses from the federal government to what was raised. “We are going to continue working, we bring an agenda with the federal government, this Thursday we are going to have a new meeting, the most important thing for us is to respect and leave the doors open,” he said.
Omar Fayad, governor of Hidalgo, made a defense of the unity generated by Conago in the midst of a crisis such as the health crisis facing the country. “I believe in unity, I don’t think we should be dividing ourselves, fighting, taking political slits out of this issue; It is not time to fight, but to be united.
“I want to make an exhortation to the colleagues who decided to leave the Conago so that I hope they reconsider their decision and we have the possibility of continuing to work together,” he said.
The governor of Puebla, Miguel Barbosa, described the 10 leaders who left the conference as “peñistas”. He assured that the decision of his counterparts has an electoral interest and political calculation, with a view to the elections of 2024.
In turn, the president of Tabasco, Adán Augusto López Hernández, assured that with the departure of the 10 state leaders “nothing happens”, especially since seven of them leave office in 2021 and Morena is emerging to win in those entities .
Meanwhile, the governor of Morelos, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, affirmed that the 10 governors only make a “grid” against the president [Andrés Manuel] López Obrador, but maintained that the PES, Morena and PT coalition will defend the Executive. “We are going to defend the President to the death,” said Blanco, and specified that PAN and PRI had their opportunities in government.
