The departmental road along the Salamane area will be fully returned to traffic on Tuesday March 19. Until this date and starting this Monday, March 4, all vehicles, in both directions, will have to pass through the interior of the zone. The construction site should continue until mid-April with the development of the cycle path and landscaped areas.
“Break Speed”
This Thursday, February 29, Claude Revel, president of the community of communes of Clermontais, accompanied by Gérald Valentini, vice-president in charge of the works, were present on the site, in particular on the new roundabout providing access to the area, where the community invested €600,000 excluding tax. The Department takes responsibility for the D2 axis to the tune of €1.2 million. “A road facility which is part of the finalization of the Salamane area. A work which breaks the speed in this long straight line. From its design, two roundabouts were planned, the first was originally built and today the second is a necessity. It will improve the local desert and secure its access”, notes Claude Revel. An activity zone which is not far from reaching its maximum capacity, with a significant flow of vehicles. The U plant alone is affected by the passage of around 200 heavy goods vehicles per day. At the same time, traffic on the D2 is estimated at 10,000 vehicles. If the cycle path takes shape along the Salamane, Claude Revel announces that discussions are underway with the Department to extend this green axis at both ends by the Chemin de Fouscaïs from Clermont to Canet, and use an existing passage under the A75 motorway. Final detail, it remains to name this roundabout and beautify it.
