A red pillow and a pair of gold scissors. At the end of 2013, Pierre Laporte (LFI) offered these presents to the Prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis at the time during a stormy meeting of the Departmental Council of Seine-Saint-Denis. With this gift, the one who was already one of the vice-presidents of this assembly protested against the “electoral slaughter” imposed by the government.
Since the 2015 departmental elections, the canton of Tremblay-en-France has included three other municipalities, all owned by elected officials from the right and from the center: Montfermeil, Vaujours and Coubron. If Pierre Laporte and Dominique Dellac (PCF) had largely won in the second round six years ago, they were preceded in the first by a certain Jordan Bardella (RN).
“This redistribution was not innocent, recalls the rebellious tremblaysien, elected to the departmental council since 1998. It is a time when the Socialists and the Communists were in struggle to lead the department. The objective was to make us lose by associating Tremblay with three right-wing towns, while the logic was to link us to Villepinte. “
Six years later, the infighting of the left has given way to a cordial understanding. The transpartisan union led by the president of the departmental council Stéphane Troussel (PS) has chosen to support the outgoing elected officials and therefore, not to present candidates in front of him, unlike in 2015.
The RN presents itself with “even higher ambitions” than in 2015
Vice-president of the delegated health department, Pierre Laporte highlights his results, on vaccination – the departmental council has opened a center in Tremblay-en-France – or on dental health. Dominique Dellac, she recalls that she fought for the preservation of the Poudrerie park or for the maintenance of the agricultural school Fénelon, in Vaujours.
Their tandem will face three pairs. On its left, the Democratic Independent Workers’ Party intends to make its difference heard. “In Tremblay, the department had a plan to regroup PMI (maternal and child protection) centers against which we campaigned,” recalls Micheline Guillemette, candidate alongside Romain Tellier. Pierre Laporte, whom I know well, participated in this policy. “
On the right, the other two tandems are claiming a qualification for the second round. The National Gathering hopes to repeat its results from the 2015 departmental results, once again focusing on youth.
