Departmental in Seine-Saint-Denis: in Drancy, the UDI retains its hold on the canton

“This score is very satisfying. This is the sign of massive support from the Dranceans for the municipal policy that we have been leading for years, ”welcomes Aude Lagarde (UDI), the outgoing departmental councilor. The candidate of the Union of Independent Democrats (UDI) came out ahead in the first round of departmental elections on Sunday, winning 58.25% of the vote with her partner Hamid Chabani. The mayor of Drancy, re-elected during the last municipal elections, thus obtains a comfortable lead over the left-wing tandem composed of Lotfi Ben Yedder (PS) and Carine Niles (PCF), 21.53% of the vote. The abstention, which amounts to 74.20%, prevents the outgoing pair from being re-elected in the first round

What make confident Aude Lagarde, who succeeded her husband Jean-Christophe Lagarde to the municipality, for the second round. “The Dranceans know what they want. I therefore call on them to show their support for municipal politics as widely as possible this Sunday, ”urges Aude Largarde.

The elected hopes for a switch to the right of the departmental council, currently chaired by Stéphane Troussel (PS). “The left has been in power since 1957. It’s time for that to change,” she asserts, accusing the Department of not promoting equal opportunities. “The city is investing to provide students with digital tablets from the start of the school year. The region did it for high school students. The department is the only one not to do so, she laments. This is a striking example that shows that we have a department that does not fulfill its social role. »

The left and “the hope of reconquest”

The left alliance won 21.53% of the vote. A score that allows him to stay in the second round. “For years, the left was no longer present in local elections. Everything was sucked up by the Largarde family. Today, we are raising hopes of a long-term reconquest in Drancy. We are going there little by little with substantive work, ”reacted Carine Niles (PCF).

In addition, the candidate castigates the criticisms of Aude Lagarde with regard to the policy of Stéphane Troussel. “Madame Lagarde has denigrated the work that has been done by the department. However, there are plenty of things that are also being done in our city. Admittedly, she does not sit so she cannot know what is going on there. Carine Niles also welcomes the low score of the National Rally (RN), a party “Which came in ambush”.

RN candidates came third with 15.16% of the vote. “When you are unknown compared to the binomial of the union of the left supported by seven parties and compared to Lagarde, it is an honorable score. Even if we would have preferred to qualify for the second round” admits Enzo Marano (RN).
