Be the “scratching hair of the majority” and “ensure respect for democracy”. Pierre Ouzoulias (PCF), the outgoing departmental councilor of Bagneux, a canton which also includes the city of Bourg-la-Reine, knows that the Hauts-de-Seine department has no chance of changing, both the right and the center are in the majority with, to date, 38 of the 46 seats.
But he considers his role of opponent as “essential to the proper functioning of the community”, in particular to “tirelessly remind people of what does not work”. “During these last six years, I have never ceased to underline the problems linked to school catering in colleges, which has pushed the department to change its position”, underlines Pierre Ouzoulias, by way of example.
While the outgoing campaign in the other cantons, explaining that only the departmental advisers of the majority advance the files, the one who is also the only PCF senator of the department, intends to demonstrate the opposite. “Bourg-la-Reine has never obtained as many subsidies as since I have been in the department,” insists the outgoing, who is now campaigning with Hélène Cillières, deputy mayor of Bagneux.
Three other candidates from the left
Because Marie-Hélène Amiable (PCF) has decided to hand over the baton to focus on her city. An exception in a department, where mayors crowd to sit in the department. Another particularity: Pierre Ouzoulias should be the only parliamentarian from Hauts-de-Seine to also be a departmental councilor. Because further north, in the canton of Gennevilliers, the deputy (PCF) and outgoing elected Elsa Faucillon has positioned herself as a substitute.
But first, you will have to go through the ballot box, on June 20 and 27, and be in front of the five other pairs in the race. And, in the canton, the outgoing must deal with three other left candidates, including an EELV pair formed by Christophe Bonazzi and Pascale Meker, and an LFI-Génération.s pair composed of Olivier Barberousse and Claire Gabiache. “In the current state of the left, that does not really make sense”, deplores Pierre Ouzoulias.
