We take the same and start again ? In any case, this is what Bernard Pozzoli and Juliette Werth hope for, in the canton of Montluçon-4 (Allier), for the departmental elections of June 20 and 27, 2021. The outgoing pair does indeed seem to be the favorite to succeed him, no longer under the socialist label but under that of Left and environmentalists united. Decryption.
Left and environmentalists gathered (outgoing)
Passed to the second round in 2015 on this canton then newly redistributed, with 59.85% of the votes against 40.15% on the right, the duo bet on its anchoring. We thus find Bernard Pozzoli (67 years old), departmental councilor since 2004 and re-elected mayor of Prémilhat last year, without an opponent, for a third term.
By his side is again Juliette Werth (59 years old), municipal opposition councilor in Montluçon, elected from Frédéric Kott’s list in municipal elections. “We offer a team that has experience, who has worked well, who knows the municipalities, the Department, the canton”, they develop.
Republican Union for Bourbonnais (URB)
From experience, their opponents have less. In any case as regards this departmental ballot. Since none of the members of the other two duos was a candidate in 2015. Starting with the Republican Union for Bourbonnais (URB), the majority in the council but beaten here six years ago, and which this year is playing the youth card . With Romain Lefebvre (35 years old), deputy mayor of Montluçon in particular in charge of sports.
And Émilie Emery-Provost (34 years old), specialized educator as well as substitute municipal councilor at Quinssaines. “We want to breathe new life into our territory, lay the foundations for an ambitious and renewed project,” they say. Especially since they find themselves alone on the right, against two tandems on the left. What to hope to tip Montluçon-4 on the side of the URB.
Insubordinate France and Generation Climate
Indeed, competing in the first round in 2015 in this canton, the RN (ex-FN) is not represented this time. While on the left, La France insoumise and Génération climat are involved. They are therefore counting on this left-wing electorate to create a surprise and bring out the leavers. Their tandem consists of Michel Beaune (67 years old), retired from the chemical industry, trade unionist and LFI activist.
And of Fatiha Taiar (56 years old), in professional retraining after having invested a long time in associations or structures in the Fontbouillant district. Knowing that this sector of Montluçon-Ouest alone concentrates more than 58% of the inhabitants of the canton … “It is a real program of rupture that we propose”, they urge. So, break up or continue? It is up to the voters to decide.
