Many boxing fans had expected and hoped for a fight between former British world champion Anthony Joshua and former American world champion Deontay Wilder.
They will both enter the ring on December 23 – but not against each other.
Much to Wilder’s displeasure.
“He is afraid”
The American says that his team offered Joshua 50 million dollars (equivalent to approximately SEK 528 million), but that the rival refused.
– I think that part of the reason is that he is afraid, Wilder says Daily Mail.
– He was offered the money he wanted and didn’t take it so I don’t think it’s about them.

Can meet next year
Wilder then criticized Joshua’s management, who he believes are trying to protect him far too much.
– It is his people who have held him back from entering the ring against me. We have been waiting for over six years now. In the end, so much time passes that you just feel ‘but forget it then’.
– He has wanted to meet me several times. He has said yes, but his management has said no because Joshua is their cash cow and if he loses, they lose their money.
