Denzel Washington Talks About Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock Incident

KOMPAS.com – Actor Denzel Washington spoke up about the Chris Rock slapping incident by Will Smith on stage Oscar 2022.

It is known that Denzel Washintong calmed down and gave advice to Will Smith after slapping Chris Rock.

While appearing on a panel at pastor TD’s annual International Leadership Summit, Denzel explained why he got up from his chair after seeing Will Smith slap Chris Rock.

“There’s no way I can sit in my chair,” Denzel Washington said during an event broadcast live by The Wrap.

“It (who stood after the incident) was not only me,” continued Denzel Washington, quoted from People, Sunday (3/4/2022).

Denzel Washington, Tyler Perry and Bradley Cooper were among the stars seen talking to Will Smith shortly after the incident.

He then alludes to an old saying he spoke to Will Smith at the time.

“There’s a saying when the devil ignores you, then you know you’re doing something wrong,” said Denzel Washington.

“The devil said, ‘Oh no, leave him alone, he’s my favourite’. On the other hand, when the devil comes to you, it may be because he is trying to do something right. And for whatever reason, the devil caught him (Will Smith) that night,” Washington continued.

Denzel Washington said luckily he wasn’t alone talking to Smith after slapping Rock.
