Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (26) got engaged on New Year’s Eve.
In an Instagram post, he sports a ring on his finger with a big smile and writes: “Sliding into 2023 at the peak of life”.
Among others, biathletes Tiril Eckhoff, Johannes Thingnes Bø, Marte Olsbu Røisland, Tarjei Bø, Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Fourcade congratulated her. Boyfriend Trygve Markset is “tagged” in the video clip.
The newspaper she has been in contact with Tandrevold, who confirms that she is aware that the engagement is being discussed, but would not comment further.
She is the best Norwegian biathlete among women this season, with two individual podiums and a fifth place overall in the World Cup. You had to bear a large part of the responsibility in the absence of the pallet wholesalers Tiril Eckoff and Mars Olsbu Røiseland.
– It was different. Now Marte comes into play, and I’m sure both Marte and Tiril will go straight up to the preferred level with the qualities they have on the track and in the grandstand. I think we other girls have risen to the challenge that we need to step up our game, that we’ve shown that there’s more of us on the team, Tandrevold told VG earlier this week. She understands that the optimism among the people was not at its peak before the season.
– I understand that people were critical, because it’s Tiril and Marte who performed better and without them we would be a weaker team. We were unable to secure podium places, as we could have done just before. We don’t spend a lot of energy thinking about it, but it was a lot of fun to be in an underdog position.
The 26-year-old does not point to any details that have been critical, plus a general skepticism that biathlon’s two most successful women have been on the road at the World Cup.
Tiril Eckhoff had a difficult periodbut returned to training just before Christmas. Mars Olsbu Røiseland he struggled to get his body to respond the way it wanted, but he’ll be back at the World Cup in the new year. The two profiles accounted for the lion’s share of Norway’s podiums and medals in recent years.
For my part, it was also a great personal recovery. He went through last year’s entire season without an individual podium, and the images of a shattered Tandrevold who had to come home from the Beijing Olympics after the unfortunate episode at the start of the chase burned:
She is now satisfied that she has had several positive experiences so far in the season. Confidence is completely different from last season. She thinks a lot about the fact that she was able to be “more Ingrid” outside of biathlon than was possible during the corona restrictions.
– It was very influential. If I didn’t get to do it the way I wanted, it was at the expense of my image of myself as a person, says Tandrevold of time in the bubble.
Instead, she’s now gotten better at distinguishing shooting a bad shot from a bad shot, and says she’s gained a broader perspective on biathlon, without “nailing” it yet, according to her.
Maybe we will have similar scenes in Oberhof in the new year?
