A team of researchers in Chicago, N.B Cleaning teeth Brushing twice a day for at least two minutes may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, according to heart.org.

Previous studies have shown a link between heart disease and periodontal disease – a condition characterized by gum infection, gingivitis and tooth damage.

A new study of 682 people reported their dental brushing behavior. They found that those who said they brushed less than twice a day for less than two minutes had a threefold increased risk, compared to those who said they brushed at least twice a day for at least two minutes, of cardiovascular disease.

For his part, Dr. Shogo Matsui, the study’s principal investigator at the Institute of Biomedicine and Health Sciences at Hiroshima University in Japan, said the findings indicate that “poor oral health, which depends on daily brushing behavior, is linked” to poor heart health.

In the same context, Dr. Ann Bolger, a cardiologist and emeritus professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, explained that periodontal disease is one of the diseases “in which the body may be in a state of constant inflammation, and this seems to be a very strong indicator of cardiovascular disease.” .

Gum disease also seems to worsen blood pressure, and medications must be taken to treat high blood pressure. Besides, poor dental hygiene also poses a risk for people with heart valve problems.

The American Dental Association also recommends brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes with a fluoride toothpaste.
