The dental crisis in Great Britain continues and is becoming more and more dramatic. According to a report in Guardian around 27,000 children were on waiting lists for special dental treatments, examinations or interventions at the beginning of the year. In some regions children have to wait an average of 18 months for appointments, in others years.
Cement crowns, urine against infection
Anyone who suffers from toothache in England therefore often has no other choice than to reach for the pliers themselves. According to a survey, one in ten Britons has pulled their own teeth. And not only that: for example, some people suffering from pain tried to fix crowns with cement or super glue or used heated ‘polyspheres’ to replace a missing tooth. One person interviewed even wanted to kill an infection with urine.
No prospect of a dentist appointment
In the past two years, over six million people have tried unsuccessfully to get a dentist appointment. 4.4 million did not even bother because they assumed they would not have a chance of a consultation. An estimated 1.1 million patients were deterred by the fees, and another 600,000 were on a waiting list, the listed Mirror in a recent report on. The data were analyzed by the British Dental Association (BDA).
