Densus Arrest 9 Suspected Terrorists in North Sumatra

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police arrested nine suspected terrorists in the region North Sumatra (North Sumatra) in recent times.

“A total of seven arrests were made in the Medan area (Langkat, Binjai, Belawan, West Medan). Two were in the Tanjung Balai area,” said the Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) Polri Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan when confirmed, Thursday (16/12).

Ramadhan said that the suspected terrorists had now been taken to the North Sumatra Police for further examination.

However, Ramadhan has not been able to confirm further about the network of nine people who were arrested. He only explained that investigators also arrested another suspected terrorist in the South Sumatra (Sumsel) area.

“In addition, one terrorist suspect was arrested in South Sumatra,” he added.

Previously, the police also arrested a total of five terrorist suspects from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network in Lampung and South Sumatra. The four suspects are tasked with securing another terrorist fugitive who is being chased by the authorities.
