With the Home Subwoofer, Denon is launching a wireless model at a price of 499 euros. The sub will be available from mid-March 2022. Of course, you won’t get a balanced sound out of the subwoofer alone. According to the manufacturer, it is more suitable as a companion to the Denon Home Sound Bar 550 and the other wireless speakers in the Denon Home series.
Accordingly, the Denon Home subwoofer is designed for multi-room use – thanks to HEOS built-in. Oh yes, the device is of course not completely wireless. Although the connection to other speakers is free of cables, the sub naturally needs to be connected to the socket. The subwoofer then connects to your other Denon Home products via Wi-Fi. It integrates an 8-inch woofer, the design should fit seamlessly into the Denon Home family.
As an application scenario, Denon describes the connection with the aforementioned Denon Home Sound Bar 550 and two additional home speakers to get a real 5.1 surround system. In addition, the subwoofer can be used to maximize the performance of mono and stereo speaker systems from the Denon Home or HEOS series. Output level, low-pass filter and phase can be adjusted via the HEOS app to optimally adjust the subwoofer for you.
You can access music services such as Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Deezer and TIDAL as well as audio files stored on the smartphone in the HEOS system via WLAN, Apple AirPlay 2 or Bluetooth. Equipped with WLAN and USB connection, the playback of Hi-Res audio formats with up to 192 kHz/24 bit as well as DSD files with 2.8/5.6 MHz is also possible.
