Denny Sumargo made a busy social media timeline. There was a lot of news related to him being invited to convert to Islam after a social activity he did at a mosque.
On the TikTok timeline, a moment was recorded when Denny Sumargo purified himself with ablution. The video was uploaded on his TikTok account @dennysumargoreal.
Densu wore Muslim clothes complete with a black cap. The voice of the videographer can be heard showing where the place of ablution is.
“The ablution area is on the left, bro. Thank God,” he said as quoted by detikcom, Thursday (20/4/2023).
The former national basketball player then explained why he performed ablution even though he was not a Muslim.
“Every time you enter the mosque, always clean it. Because the mosque is a good and holy place,” he said.
Because of this upload, it was widely reported that Densu had changed religions. However, it was explained that this activity was related to the activity of sharing himself, namely in the form of prayer mats.
“I want to give you a prayer mat, maybe this is all I can give. I hope it will be useful for everyone,” Densu explained his intentions and goals to the representatives at the mosque.
It didn’t stop there, it turned out that Densu was also offered in a joking context, to log in or convert to Islam.
“Mr. Denny doesn’t want to log in, sir?” someone joked in the video.
“God willing, sir, just pray, sir,” replied Denny, smiling as he said goodbye.
As it turned out, Islam had existed in Densu’s life since the beginning. In the video, Densu says Islam is his father’s religion, while his extended family is a mixture of Christians and Buddhists.
“So, I respect every religion, follow their own rules. I went to the mosque to take ablutions, respecting sacred boundaries. Because I used to learn, there are many differences. If we in this country don’t respect each other, we are destroyed. Because here, religion it is recognized by Pancasila,” continued Densu relaxed but still wise.
