Dennis Schröder is currently playing big with the Boston Celtics and making the offensive of the Celts better. At the same time, his style of play also brings problems for the Celtics, who will even think about a trade by the German.
After a wild and eventful summer, things have calmed down a bit around Dennis Schröder. After he had “gambled” what was perhaps the biggest deal of his career, the German was ridiculed. After all, it was the Boston Celtics who had mercy and signed Schröder for a year and $ 5.9 million.
For both sides, this deal was and is an absolute win-win situation on paper. The Celtics simply had nothing to lose and Schröder had the opportunity to restore his value on the big stage.
Due to the injury and the failure of Jaylen Brown, Schröder now even takes on a significantly larger role than was intended for him.
From bargain Schröder to Lakers regret: The 15 best contracts in the NBA-
1/32
After looking at the 15 worst contracts, we are now spreading positive sentiment. Which NBA star is a real steal for their team? Who earns below their real worth? Here are the Association’s 15 best contracts.
2/32
Note: Luka Doncic made $ 10.2 million this year, but does not appear on our list of top steals. The reason: We did not take rookie contracts into account. Here comes the ranking.
3/32
15th place: CHRISTIAN WOOD | Houston Rockets | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 13.7 million | Stats 21/22: 16.5 points and 11.1 rebounds at 46.6 percent FG and 36.8 percent threes in 31.7 minutes (23 games)
4/32
Since the Big Man has played on the five in the Rockets lineup, things have been going much better for the 26-year-old. He is slowly approaching the strong numbers from the previous season. His contract should make him an interesting target in the trade market.
5/32
14th place: GEORGES NIANG | Philadelphia 76ers | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 3.3 million | Stats 21/22: 11.2 points and 2.7 rebounds at 43.6 percent FG and 38.9 percent threes in 24.6 minutes (24 games)
6/32
A big man who delivers shooting alongside Joel Embiid – and at a bargain price. The Niang signing stands out from a manageable sixers offseason. “He’s like a Swiss Army Knife,” praised Danny Green recently.
7/32
13th place: REGGIE JACKSON | LA Clippers | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 10.4 million | Stats 21/22: 17.2 points and 4.0 assists at 39.5 percent FG and 32.9 percent threesome in 33.3 minutes (25 games)
8/32
“Mr. June” landed a lucrative but fair contract in the 2021 playoffs. As expected, his odds have fallen somewhat, but as the clippers’ second-best scorer, he still plays an extremely important role.
9/32
12th place: JARRED VANDERBILT | Minnesota Timberwolves | Contract until 2024 | Salary: $ 4.1 million | Stats 21/22: 5.8 points and 8.4 rebounds at 53.9 percent FG in 23.0 minutes (23 games)
10/32
The 22-year-old Big Man’s stats don’t necessarily stand out, but he delivers a lot more than just plain numbers. Vanderbilt is an important piece of the puzzle for the Wolves, largely because of his versatile defense and engine.
11/32
11th place: RICHAUN HOLMES | Sacramento Kings | Contract until 2025 | Salary: $ 10.4 million | Stats 21/22: 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds at 70.7 percent FG in 27.9 minutes (21 games)
12/32
Since moving to Sac-Town in 2019, he has continued to develop. He is in third place in the league with FG%, against the Lakers he even stayed perfectly out of the field in 12 attempts (27 points). He also dominates the zones with his rebounding.
13/32
10th place: KELLY OUBRE JR. | Charlotte Hornets | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 12.0 million | Stats 21/22: 16.5 points and 3.9 rebounds at 46.6 percent FG and 39.4 percent threes in 28.4 minutes (26 games)
14/32
The 25-year-old has its ups and downs. Sometimes he brings MJ to white heat, sometimes he leaves a wide open layup, but then there are also 30+ point explosions every now and then. His fit at the Hornets is significantly better than at the Golden State.
15/32
9th place: DORIAN FINNEY-SMITH | Dallas Mavericks | Contract until 2022 | Salary: $ 4.0 million | Stats 21/22: 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds at 43.0 percent FG and 37.4 percent threes in 31.2 minutes (22 games)
16/32
His last year of contract is a bargain, in the summer it should be significantly more expensive. His strength as a wing defender is well known, and after a weak start to the season, his three-man quota is back in the right direction.
17/32
8th place: KYLE ANDERSON | Memphis Grizzlies | Contract until 2022 | Salary: $ 9.9 million | Stats 21/22: 7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists at 42.9 percent FG and 36.0 percent three-pointers in 21.7 minutes (21 games)
18/32
Anderson could also tap higher-endowed offers in the coming summer. The versatility is what makes “Slow-Mo” so strong: He defends well, has continuously improved his shooting and delivers a bit of everything.
19/32
7th place: PATTY MILLS | Brooklyn Nets | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 5.9 million | Stats 21/22: 12.7 points and 2.4 assists with 46.4 percent FG and 47.4 percent threesome in 28.4 minutes (23 games)
20/32
As early as the summer, the Mills deal was celebrated as one of the steals of the offseason – he could certainly have earned more elsewhere. His scoring has been quite inconsistent in the season so far, only from downtown the Australian is red hot.
21/32
6th place: NICOLAS BATUM | LA Clippers | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 3.2 million | Stats 21/22: 9.8 points and 5.5 rebounds at 52.1 percent FG and 43.8 percent three-pointers in 27.6 minutes (14 games)
22/32
From the worst contract in the league to a bargain: The Frenchman turned his career inside out after his buyout in Charlotte. At the Clippers he spurred a strong small-ball lineup last year, the three-point also falls 21/22 with a high percentage.
23/32
5th place: DENNIS SCHRÖDER | Boston Celtics | Contract until 2022 | Salary: $ 5.9 million | Stats 21/22: 17.9 points and 4.9 assists with 44.6 percent FG and 35.8 percent threesome in 33.3 minutes (23 games)
24/32
DS17 is well on the way to forgetting its messed up free agency and getting itself into position for a payday for 2022. He gives the Celtics important scoring on good days. His drives are extremely dangerous.
25/32
4th place: ALEX CARUSO | Chicago Bulls | Contract until 2025 | Salary: $ 8.6 million | Stats 21/22: 8.5 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds at 44.2 percent FG and 33.3 percent three-pointers in 28.6 minutes (23 games)
26/32
The Lakers are probably still biting their butts. LA let Caruso move to Chicago, where the 27-year-old has already established himself as a crowd favorite with his vicious defense. There is hardly anyone better in his position.
27/32
3rd place: SETH CURRY | Philadelphia 76ers | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 8.2 million | Stats 21/22: 15.9 points and 2.6 assists with 50.2 percent FG and 40.5 percent three in 34.3 minutes (22 games)
28/32
Curry signed his current contract in Dallas, and the Mavs gave him up after only one season for Josh Richardson – much to the delight of the Sixers. As a reliable shooter, he gives Embiid space and scratches a 50/40/90 season.
29/32
2nd place: LUGUENTZ DORT | Oklahoma City Thunder | Contract until 2023 | Salary: $ 1.8 million | Stats 21/22: 17.3 points and 4.0 rebounds at 43.3 percent FG and 33.5 percent three-pointers in 32.6 minutes (22 games)
30/32
The “Dorture Chamber” is notorious, no offensive star wants to find himself there against the vicious Canadian. He has also made tremendous progress on the offensive since OKC promoted the 22-year-old from a two-way contract in 2020.
31/32
1st place: ZACH LAVINE | Chicago Bulls | Contract until 2022 | Salary: $ 19.5 million | Stats 21/22: 25.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists at 49.0 percent FG and 37.8 percent three-pointers in 35.0 minutes (25 games)
32/32
When the 26-year-old signs his new contract next summer, he will probably get the Max, around 34 million per year. It is currently a little more than half of this amount – and delivers all-NBA-level services!

Dennis Schröder makes the Celtics offensive better
Since his first day in the Association, it has been pretty clear how Schröder’s game worked. He is lightning fast, is not afraid of contact under the basket and can (sometimes more and sometimes less) run hot from a distance. He also has an eye for the free teammate and a dangerous floater. These strengths (we will get to the weaknesses later) are currently playing into his cards with the Celtics.
Only eleven players in the league recorded more drives per game than the Braunschweig player (15.2), which he also finished with excellent odds (51.6 percent, 6th place in the league with at least 6 attempts per game). In doing so, he changes the rhythm of the Celtics offensive, which is also carried over to his teammates. Compared to the previous year, the Celts recorded almost five more drives per game, especially Marcus Smart has seldom seen so aggressively to the basket.
At the same time, he expands the offensive repertoire of his team and makes it harder to calculate. Schröder, along with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, is the only Celtic who is able to create effective isolation plays. While Tatum is acting extremely inefficiently this season (35.7 FG percent with 5 attempts per game) and usually relies fully on his throw, Schröder prefers to move into the zone and pose problems for the big ones.
If he then also hits his throw from distance, as he did last against the Blazers (5/7 from Downtown), he becomes even more valuable. Bigs usually dive into the pick’n’roll defensive against Schröder because they are afraid of his drive. If they can’t afford that, the gaps are automatically cleared for Schröder’s teammates, which is why the 8 assists against Portland come as no surprise.

Dennis Schröder: Finally arrived?
However, the Celtics are better if Schröder and the rest don’t fall into isolation. “I have to make sure that everything is in motion and that we play fast. I can’t just dribble and wait for isolation. We are best when we do things quickly,” said Schröder last.
It is therefore not surprising that the lineup with Marcus Smart, Grant Williams, Tatum and Al Horford is by far the best lineup in the Celtics and one of the best in the league. Together with the four stud shooters and capable passers on the field, the space for Schröders Drives becomes even larger. He is one of the better guard finishers in the league on the ring (64.1 percent, in the range of Ja Morant and DeMar DeRozan) and uses it mercilessly night after night.
His teammates trust him and that noticeably inspires Schröder. While he often dived completely last season with the Lakers when he did not find his way, he remains present this season and continues to fight.
“In my current situation I feel 100 percent comfortable,” said Schröder MassLive and raved about the support and recognition of the organization: “So far it has been great. That’s all I wanted and I believe that we can achieve something great here.”
However, the Celtics could soon have problems due to Schröder’s good performance.
