American director, screenwriter and actor Dennis Berry, who was married to New Wave cinema icons Gene Seaberg and Anna Carina, died on Saturday at the age of 76, AFP reported.
“Director Dennis Berry died in Paris on June 12 at 9:45 a.m. Surrounded by the love of his friends, he flew to find Anna Carina, who died in 2019,” said his agent Urda Benlaala.
Berry was born in the United States but has lived in Paris since the 1970s. In 1972, he married American actress Gene Seaberg, who became an icon of French cinema with his role in Jean-Luc Godard’s 1960 film To the Last Breath. The two were already separated when the actress died in Paris in 1979. г.
In 1982, Berry married the star of the New Wave, the Dane Anna Karina.
Dennis Berry, who is the son of director John Berry, has played a number of minor roles in productions starring Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo, directed by Jules Dassin, Eric Romer, Jacques Rivet and others.
His directorial debut was the 1975 film The Great Delirium, starring Gene Seaberg and Isabelle Huppert. In 2017, he dedicated a documentary production to his wife Anna Karina. His latest film “Savages” was released in 2019.
Dennis Berry has directed several television series, including Scottish Fighter, in which actress Marion Cotillard made her debut in 1992.
