Denmark won away to Austria in the first game in Hockey-VM Group A men, with 5-1 (2-1, 1-0, 2-0).
Denmark started the match the strongest. The team grabbed a 0-2 lead through goals from Markus Lauridsen and Frederik Storm before Austria responded to make it 2-1 through Manuel Ganahl. After 18.54 in the second period Joachim Blichfeld netted, played by Christian Wejse and Oliver Lauridsen and made 1-3. Denmark continued its dominance in the third period and finally won by a whopping 5-1. The goals in the last period were scored by Joachim Blichfeld and Felix Maegaard-Scheel.
