Denmark will have a large central government for the first time in more than forty years | Abroad

Social Democrat Mette Frederiksen will form a government with liberal and moderate politicians as Denmark’s proposed prime minister. It is the first time in more than forty years that the Scandinavian country will have a government that transcends the traditional division between left and right.

After last month’s electoral victory, Frederiksen, 45, reiterated his promise to include dissident parties in the governing coalition. According to her, the current international uncertainty requires political unity.

The left bloc won a majority with 90 of the 179 seats. Cooperation led by former prime minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen’s right-wing liberal Venstre en Moderaterne party could also supply ministers. The new government will be presented on Thursday, Frederiksen said after updating the Queen.

Frederiksen became prime minister in 2019 of a minority government that leaned mainly on the left in parliament. A decision that turned out to be illegal on the killing of mink in corona time was the reason why the Danes had to go to the polls again.
