The Russian Federation will make its own conclusions regarding the Danish request authorities to reduce the number of diplomatic staff of the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen to five people.
This is stated in a comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“We are considering the request of the Danish authorities to reduce the number of diplomatic staff working in the Russian embassy in Copenhagen from 15 to 5 people as another manifestation of the hostile position of the Danish guidance to our country,” the diplomat said.
The necessary conclusions from this will, of course, be drawn, she stated.
Denmark wants to reduce the staff of the Russian embassy in the country
Five diplomats should remain
We remind you that earlier on Friday, Denmark decided to limit the number of Russian diplomats in the Russian embassy in Copenhagen up to five and the administrative staff up to 20 people. This was stated in a statement by the Danish Foreign Ministry.
“On September 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark informed Russian Ambassador Vladimir Barbin that the staff of the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen should be reduced to a level corresponding to the staff of the Danish Embassy in Moscow,” the report said.
The department noted that Denmark and Russia have been negotiating for a long time about issuing visas to employees of the Danish embassy in Moscowin order to maintain the normal operation of the two diplomatic missions.
“These negotiations did not lead to any results, as the Russian side repeatedly tried to include in them requests for the issuance of visas to Russian intelligence officials,” the foreign ministry said.
They added that Russia must cut embassy staff by September 29, 2023.
