The previously requested important reason for entry, such as visiting close relatives or partners, will no longer apply to people from the European Union (EU) and the Schengen area.
This change applies to tourists from countries where the situation with the new coronavirus is not considered too serious.
However, the Danish Foreign Ministry said on Thursday night that tourists and other immigrants have yet to be tested and quarantined upon arrival in Denmark if they have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and have not recovered from the disease.
Tourists and other immigrants from Sweden’s border areas will be able to circumvent the quarantine regime. A negative test of no more than 72 hours will suffice for them to enter.
The relief comes into effect on Friday, in line with an agreement reached between the government and most parliamentary parties in mid-April.
The quarantine requirement for countries with a sufficiently low number of Covid-19 cases will be lifted from 26 June. Since the beginning of May, fully vaccinated people from many EU and Schengen countries have been allowed to re-enter the country.
The condition for entry into Denmark is that the country of the traveler in question must be assessed at least as “orange”, ie the situation of Covid-19 there is not particularly serious and there are no disturbing strains of the virus.
