Tommy Sugiarto made it through to the semifinals of the Denmark Open after India’s Sameer Verma withdrew after the first game ended.
Sameer Verma started the game very well with four consecutive points and 4-0 lead. However, Tommy then successfully replied with a record of six consecutive points which brought him back to lead 8-5.
Tommy continued to lead to an 11-9 lead in the interval. After the interval, Sameer Verma managed to equalize to 11-11.
Tommy then responded well to the situation. He could shoot and lead away 18-13. Sameer Verma was close at 17-19, but Tommy was able to take the next two points and win 21-17 in the first game.
In the first game itself, Tommy had time to get treatment. However, after the first game was over, Sameer Verma resigned and the match was discontinued.
Tommy advances to the semifinals of the Denmark Open. Tommy will face the winner of the duel Jonatan Christie vs Kento Momota which also takes place on Friday (22/10) local time.
