Dawn Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto advance to the quarterfinals Denmark Open 2021. From the women’s doubles, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu also qualified.
In the second round match of the Denmark Open 2021 at Odense Sports Park, Thursday (21/10/2021) evening WIB, Fajar/Rian had to fight three games against the Indian pair, MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila. Fajar/Rian won with a score of 21-15, 17-21, 21-12.
Fajar/Rian, who are the fourth seeds, are now the men’s doubles with the highest seed position remaining at the Denmark Open 2021. The top three seeds, namely Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin have eliminated.
In the quarterfinals, Fajar/Rian will face the winner of the match between Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty and Gon Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.
Tickets to the quarterfinals have also been won Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu. The 2020 Olympic gold medalist won two straight games over the host representatives, Maiken Fruergaard/Sara Thygesen, with a score of 21-13, 21-16.
After winning heavily in the first game, Greysia/Apriyani got tough resistance from Maiken/Sara in the second game. At 16-16, Greysia/Apriyani won five consecutive points to lock up the win.
Greysia/Apriyani will next face Huang Dong Ping/Zheng Yu in the quarterfinals. The Chinese women’s doubles qualified for the last eight after beating Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva 17-21, 21-11, 21-17.
Victory was also achieved by Tommy Sugiarto who beat Thomas Rouxel (France) with a score of 21-18, 16-21, 21-19. In the quarterfinals, Tommy will face the winner of the match between Anders Antonsen and Sameer Verma.
