Denmark is tightening up on coronary restrictions

Denmark introduces new restrictions to curb coronary heart disease. The nightlife closes at midnight, and there will be home school for primary school the last week before Christmas.

The measures are being introduced to avoid a new shutdown, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday.

The schools will be closed from 15 December to 5 January, Minister of Education Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil states.

At the same time, Minister of Trade and Industry Simon Kollerup states that from Friday, nightclubs and restaurants must close at midnight. It is also not allowed to sell alcohol after midnight.

In addition, companies are encouraged to cancel Christmas lunches due to the high infection rates, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen at a press conference on Wednesday.

Home office

Concerts with more than 50 standing guests will be banned, says Minister of Culture Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen.

– That this only applies to concert halls, is because you can walk around a museum without getting close to each other, while concerts have a different character, she says.

People are also encouraged to have a home office as much as possible, and the requirement for a face mask is extended to also apply inside restaurants.

The measures will take effect on Friday 10 December, and the hope is to be able to avoid a new closure at the same time as the infection rates increase.

Crisis packages

– They will affect many, and the government assists with aid packages, says Simon Kollerup at the press conference. Among other things, he points to nightclubs, bars, restaurants and suppliers for Christmas lunches as some of those who want help.

The parties in the Folketing have been summoned to negotiations on aid packages on Thursday.

It is already mandatory to wear a bandage on public transport and in shops, as well as a requirement to show a corona passport at certain events.
