Prosecutor’s authority Denmark announced the detention of six suspects after the police carried out a special operation to prevent terror attack. The six suspects are suspected of planning a terror attack, which the Danish authorities managed to thwart.
As reported AFPFriday (15/12/2023), the Danish police did not provide more detailed information about the target of the thwarted terror attack.
However, the police, at midnight Thursday (14/12), emphasized that the detention in Denmark was not directly related to the arrest of four suspects who were suspected of being members of Hamas Of German and Dutchon suspicion of preparing attacks against Jewish targets in Europe.
“Six people were detained from last night until January 9 – four of them in absentia. One other person has been released,” the Danish prosecutor’s authority said via social media X, without providing further explanation.
In Denmark, a suspect can be detained in absentia to obtain an international arrest warrant. In this case, the four suspects who were detained in absentia may be abroad.
The trial process was held behind closed doors and no more detailed information regarding the charges against them was revealed to the public.
Danish police reported on Thursday (14/12) local time that three people were arrested in Denmark in connection with terrorism.
“They are a group that plans acts of terror,” said the head of operations at the PET intelligence agency, Flemming Drejer, at a press conference.
