The game
Danish start
Without giving the Czech Republic time to get used to the game, after just four minutes Denmark opened the scoring. After the corner kick, Delaney headed, practically from the penalty spot, free of the mark, to swing the net.
After the goal, the Danish team moved up their lines and pressed hard, leaving no room for the Czechs.
The birthday boy of the day, Damsgaard, had the ball to extend the advantage but wasted it. The Danish striker touched the goalkeeper’s exit, but Coufal took it over the line.
At 41, Maehle made a great cross, with a trivela, the ball went into the small area, and Dolberg only completed it to increase the score.
Czech reaction
The second leg of the match started with the Czech Republic going ‘all or nothing’. On the way back from the break, the Czech coach put Jankto and Krmencík, who are two offensive players.
In the first few seconds, Schmeichel made two good saves. At three minutes, the Czech top scorer reduced the Danish advantage. Coufal made the cross, the ball was low, but Patrik Schick managed to make the detour, to beat the Danish goalkeeper.
New top scorer in Euro
With this goal, Schick tied with Cristiano Ronaldo with 5 goals, in the artillery of the Euro Cup. In addition, it also equaled the Milan Baros, who was the top scorer at Euro 2004, and is the Czechs’ top scorer in a single edition of the European.
More balanced finish
After the start of the Czech Republic’s overwhelming second half, Denmark found themselves in the match and the game was balanced again. The two teams came to be equal in the percentage of the ball possession.
The good start of the Danish team, opening two goals ahead, was decisive in defining the result of the match. Despite being better in the second stage, the Czech Republic could not reverse the disadvantage on the scoreboard.
