PP-DB rejected GERB’s proposal for a coalition agreement. It is to divide the posts in the cabinet and all the power “proportionately, with equal bearing of responsibility, with the right of veto and a new review of the ministers”. Boyko Borisov made such a proposal yesterday. Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, on behalf of the ruling coalition, stated this at the beginning of the cabinet meeting. He noted that the offer includes a change in priorities, which were agreed upon with GERB 9 months ago.
“Instead of continuing with reforms, the focus is on ministerial seats and fighting for positions. I state clearly that we do not accept such a change of priorities,” the PP Prime Minister disagreed.
According to him, the fight against corruption and judicial reform were the main priority when the cabinet was created. And because of that it became a fact. And he suggested to GERB partners to first accomplish this task together. And then to discuss how to continue the joint management going forward.
“Let’s complete the tasks as they are set, and under the conditions agreed with GERB 9 months ago. Only after we have followed the marked path of fighting corruption and reforming the judicial system, we are ready to discuss with GERB how to move forward”. That’s what the Prime Minister said.
Denkov reminded that “this administration was created with one clear task – to free the institutions from the corruption baggage that they have been dragging during all the years of the transition”.
“That’s why we shook hands with Maria Gabriel,” emphasized the prime minister and added that such was the agreement. And he summarized that “our justice has been turned into a stock market”.
“The recent revelations about the groups of Notary and Pepi Euroto have shown everyone that our justice has been turned into a stock market. “Instead of fighting crime, organized groups, with the protection of politicians, have been carrying out dirty orders in front of the widely closed eyes of the services, the prosecutor’s office and the Anti-Corruption Commission,” said Denkov.
“We have achieved a lot together with the parliament. We changed the Constitution and the law on the anti-corruption commission, introduced control over the Prosecutor General, prepared changes in the laws related to the SJC to prevent political interference in the judicial system. But that is not enough. In order for there to be accountability, and not clubs, we must complete the tasks,” he addressed the GERB partners.
“Political courage is now needed to take the next steps as outlined in the management program,” he appealed.
