Because the key goal of this war is actually not the Donbass, but it is certainly Odessa and full control over the Black Sea,” he said.
According to Denisenko, the implementation of this plan is also important for the Kremlin because if the Russians succeed in capturing Odessa, they are returning to the early 20th century, when the Soviet Union patrolled most of the Black Sea and was the dominant power in the Black Sea.
“That is, this is their hundred-year-old doctrine,” the adviser to the minister states.
At the same time, the occupiers have not yet succeeded in realizing what they have envisioned.
“The situation is such that we partially cut the supply system between parts of the Russian army groups in southern Ukraine. So far, they cannot do much in this direction. They are digging in and preparing to annex this territory,” Denisenko sums up.
