Denise Van Schil is no more. The widow of Beerschot icon Rik Coppens died on April 9 at the age of 85.
Denise Van Schil just missed out on winning the title of Beerschot, the club where her husband became an icon. Van Schil (85) died on April 9. In November 2022 she was a guest in the Olympic Stadium. Van Schil came to visit Museum Club 13, where her husband’s Golden Shoe is one of the showpieces.

In 1954, Rik Coppens won the very first edition of the Golden Shoe. The flamboyant Antwerp resident became the king of Kiel, partly due to his inimitable actions and statements. He was crowned top scorer of the highest class twice. Rik Coppens died on February 5, 2015 at the age of 84.
